Can Work Be Fun?
How MHS Lift has taken “having fun at work” to the next level through its one-of-a-kind Fun Committee

We often tout that we like to have fun at work. I know – it’s something every business says when talking about their company culture. But the difference between those companies and MHS Lift is, we really mean it. In fact, we’ve created a whole Fun Committee dedicated to making sure our employees are having fun on the job.
Made up of representatives from each department, the MHS Lift Fun Committee meets monthly to organize parties, fundraisers and community events, as well as brainstorm new and exciting ways to make the MHS Lift social scene vibrant and fun! First and foremost, the Fun Committee organizes parties for every holiday – Halloween costume contests with prizes, renting out the best local restaurants for a huge holiday brunch with friends and family – to name a few. We also surprise employees regularly with food truck visits, casino and bingo days in the office, and Wii sports tournaments – By the way, we get very competitive when there’s a tournament. Our IT department sets up live streams so everyone can watch and keep tabs on who’s winning.
Cornhole and mini golf tournaments are always some of the Fun Committee’s biggest hits. To kick-off the new year, we conduct a “Biggest Loser” contest to motivate participating employees to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. The contest runs from January through March and the top 3 winners will take home prizes. Simultaneously, we throw a “soup or bowl” party every February, where employees can bring in their favorite foods served in bowls to get excited for the big game.
MHS Lift lives by 26 Fundamentals that make up “the MHS Way,” a guide that outlines how we work with our customers, our partners and each other. Our 26th fundamental is to Keep Things Fun. We understand the world has bigger problems than the daily challenges that make up our work. We encourage our employees to keep perspective, not take themselves too seriously and laugh every day.
The way I put it is – you spend a huge portion of your life at work. Our goal is to make sure that time is enjoyable.
