Penn Jersey Paper Company

When it comes to customer satisfaction, longevity speaks volumes.

Penn Jersey Paper Company (PJP) was MHS Lift’s first customer in 1970, and remains a valued client today. Thomas Furia III, VP of Supply Chain Management for Penn Jersey Paper Company (PJP), notes that the relationship “predates me. My grandfather first started working with Brett and Andy Levin’s father.”

PJP has broadened its service line and scope since its 1963 founding. Starting as a traditional supermarket packaging supplier for Genuardi Markets, the company has expanded to a full-line food service and janitorial distributor serving multiple markets. This growth has included numerous acquisitions and facility moves to larger, more modern distribution centers.

Throughout these transitions, MHS Lift has been “one of our most trusted vendors. They meet all of our pallet jack, reach truck and forklift needs, as well as any maintenance needs for those items,” says Thomas.

MHS Lift has also provided valuable consulting services, including rack layout and warehouse design.

“When PJP moved to a new facility in 2011 – the largest move in the history of our company to our most modern facility – we bought all of our new facility’s racking from MHS Lift,” he adds.

Thomas, whose company achieved The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Top Workplace status for nine consecutive years, appreciates MHS Lift’s service ethic.

“The level of professionalism from MHS Lift is, bar none, the best I’ve seen,” he says. “It’s rare, but if there ever is an issue, you get a personal phone call from ownership. The connectivity from top-down is outstanding.”

The best testament to a trusted partnership is coming through in a crisis. Recently, PJP underwent an ERP conversion of a computer system that runs its entire business.

“The conversion did not go as planned and it was significantly impacting our business,” says Thomas. “I gave Andy Levin a call asking for help; I told him we need to move stock through the building fast. He said he would have equipment over in less than 24 hours, and they did.”

“Without hesitation, I would 100 percent recommend them for all warehouse and forklift needs,” he adds.
